Building an Online Business: Why You Need a Blog Base
Building an online business doesn’t happen overnight. I’ve been involved in internet marketing and online business for over 12 years now, and believe me, I’ve had plenty of ups and downs along the way. I’ve had good days, bad days and made plenty of mistakes. But one thing I’ve learned is that you should never give up on something you believe in.
That’s one of the reasons I created MattFeastOnline.com. I wanted somewhere I could share my experience and what I’ve learned about blogging, SEO, generating traffic, making money online and building an online business.
Why Your Online Business Needs a Blog Base
I believe having your own blog can be a great foundation for building a business online. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok can help you get your content in front of people, but your blog gives you somewhere that you own and control.
You can build useful content around topics people are searching for, attract visitors through SEO, promote products or services and gradually build an audience of your own.
Of course, getting traffic isn’t always easy. It takes time to learn how SEO works, how to create content people actually want to read and how to get your website noticed. I’m still learning myself, even after all these years.
Building an Online Empire: Why You Need a Blog Base
I’ve also been using TikTok for the last few months, and I’ve found it can be a great way to reach new people. But whether you’re using TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram or Google, one thing remains the same: consistency matters.
You can’t put up a couple of posts and expect everything to suddenly take off. You have to keep creating, keep learning and keep putting yourself out there. There will be times when you don’t see the results you want, but that doesn’t mean you should stop.
There are also plenty of ways to start learning about online business without spending a fortune. You can begin with the basics, learn about blogging and SEO, create a website and gradually invest more into your business as you learn and grow.
Learning SEO and Building Your Online Business
SEO is particularly important if you want your blog to attract visitors from Google and other search engines. I’ve written about some of the problems that can hold a website back in my article 7 Common SEO Mistakes That Stop Your Website Ranking on Google.
Learning how to research topics, choose keywords, write useful content, optimise your pages and build authority can make a big difference. It is a learning curve, though, and you shouldn’t expect to master everything straight away. I know that from personal experience.
Before getting into online business, I had my own sign business in the UK. I started building my online business over 12 years ago, and the first couple of years were pretty hard. I had a lot to learn and made plenty of mistakes along the way. But that’s part of the process.
You learn something, you try it, you see what works and what doesn’t, and then you improve. That’s how you build experience.
What I’ve Learned From Building an Online Business
I retired at 55 and I’m now 62, but I’m still working online and still learning new things. That’s because I genuinely enjoy it.
At this stage, I don’t spend all my time thinking about the money. I enjoy building websites, creating content, learning about SEO and sharing what I’ve learned with other people.
And I think that’s important.
If you’re only focused on making money, you’re probably going to become frustrated when things don’t happen quickly. You need to enjoy the process as well.
Another thing I’d say to anyone starting out is to be careful. There are a lot of scams and questionable opportunities online, and when you’re new, it isn’t always easy to tell the difference between a genuine opportunity and something you should stay away from.
Take your time, do your research and don’t believe everything you see online. The more experience you gain, the better you’ll become at spotting the warning signs.
For me, building an online business has been a long-term journey. It hasn’t always been easy, but I’ve learned a lot along the way and I’m still enjoying it today.
If you’re thinking about starting your own blog or online business, my advice is simple: start learning, take action and stay consistent.
You don’t need to know everything before you begin. Learn as you go, keep improving your skills and give yourself time to build something.
It isn’t rocket science, but it does take patience and effort.
Most importantly, don’t give up just because you don’t see results immediately.
Keep going, keep learning and enjoy the journey.
That’s exactly what I’m doing with MattFeastOnline.com, and I’m looking forward to sharing more of my experience with you along the way.
